About Us

The Sri Lanka – Singapore Business Council was inaugurated on 14th August, 1997 and was the 18th bilateral Business Council formed under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The foundation for the formation of the Council was laid in 1994, when the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce entered into a Business Co-operation Agreement with the Singapore Manufactures’ Association, which is now known as the Singapore Confederation of Industries. This change has widened the scope of the council to extend membership to manufacturing companies as well as other Chambers of Commerce.

This resulted in the Singapore Confederation of Industries’ growing interest in organizing promotional programs between the two countries. The request from the Singapore Confederation of Industries to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce for joint collaboration for promotional programs prompted the Chamber to form the Council.

As at present SLSBC /CCC has signed five MOU’s with the below Singaporean Chambers to achieve the above objectives. In addition, SLSBC works very closely with the Enterprise Singapore the Government body promoting Singapore companies to venture out and the Ministry of Trade of Singapore.
